María José Benvenuto is a Chilean artist currently residing in Sydney, Australia. She studied Visual Arts at the Catholic University of Chile. Inspiration for María’s work largely comes from the American Painter Jackson Pollock, and European Painters of the 20th Century such as Antoni Tapies, Hans Hartung, and Zao Wou Ki. 

“My work focuses on free experimentation over different foundations. I constantly search the relationship between the foundation and the painting itself.

For me, it is very important to realise this relationship when working, I pay close attention to the visual signs present in the work. I have made three solo exhibitions and participated many times in national and international fairs, such as Scope Basel Suiza and Aqua Art Miami, Art Basel”.
